How much sodium is in our food?
Today for Hur6 for health we done this activity about how much sodium/salt is in our food that we eat in our everyday lives. So for the activity my teacher gave me a task to see which out of the 13 foods has the most sodium in it. I liked how I got some of the question's right but it was so frustrating trying to see which one has the most sodium. The highest food was ham but I don't why but I picked 2 minute noodles, because I thought that in the seasoning there would be a lot. The thing that I learnt during this was how much sodium is in it.

Potatoes Wars
Today we got given a work sheet and had to watch a video about the early encounters in Aoteaora. About what james cook had to do when he was looking for a new land then came across the maori people.
The first European explorer to arrive in New Zealand in 1642 was Abel Tasman, and the name he gave to the land that we now know as New Zealand, is Nauvau zealandia. The next explorer to arrive in New Zealand in 1769 was James Cook. He was trying to find a new continent or country. The name of the chief navigator helping the explorers was Tu Paia. The Europeans bring to Aotearoa was potatoes, a disease, pigs etc. After that there was a gun called a musket and the year that the musket war ended was 1840/1830.

Adverbs
Today we had to do an activity about adverbs. Then circle what describes the word.
Adverbs give the reader more detail about the actions.
For example, Yesterday I walked to the dairy. So now i'm gonna add to it, early yesterday morning I slowly walked to the small dairy.
Here's another one the birds sang a song. The tui sang a graceful song.
The singer was good, The confident singer was amazingly good at singing.

Sugar
Today I have to do this activity about sugar. To see how much sugar we should be having each day, here my work.
How many teaspoons she we had each day?
The maximum of sugar you should be having is approximately 6 teaspoons for each day.
What is more healthier a fresh yummy orange or orange juice?
The healthiest is actually an orange because it only contains 1.5 teaspoons of sugar for one orange. But for a cup of orange juice it can contain 8x more sugar.
List 3 things that can happen to your body
When you have sugar it can cause you to get diabetes
When you have a drink that isn´t sugar free it causes you to eat more, but if you get one that is sugar free you will eat less.
It can cause your liver to fail or get damaged.
Thanks for reading my work bye.

Interview with Mark The Martian
Last week we watched a movie called "The Martian". It's about this man Mark Watney getting stuck on Mars. So everyone needs to figure out how to bring him back. Once we finished watching we got sent an activity called "Interview with Mark Watney", and ask him questions of what happened and that. We also had to write a news report about what happened over that time here's mine.
Interview with Mark The Martian
List 5 questions you would like to ask Mark….record his answers, then write a
News Report based on his answers. Use the handout to help you remember the plot.
Questions and answers.
- How was your experience when you were in Mars?
My experience was actually pretty scary and fun. Because through the time I was on mars alone I got to experience what you could and what you couldn’t grow on Mars.
- What did you learn when you were on Mars?
That some people have no one to turn to and that’s how I felt, and that you have to be willing to take care of yourself.
- How did you stay so calm through the storm?
The number one rule is to stay calm through everything because the more calm you are the more you can think what to do.
- Did you have fun being alone?
Yes and no because I was on Mars by myself and had no one to turn to when the storm hit, and yes because I got to do some cool things, and learn how to do things on my own.
- How did you react when you were left on Mars by yourself?
When I figured that I was left on Mars alone I was pretty devastated and lonely.
News Report:
e.g. Well known tennis player, Tony Rutene, landed in the wrong town for his latest tennis tournament. He was stuck there with no transport, no money, no food and no communications. His teammates had no idea where he was and after a week gave him up for dead because he was unable to access a phone or computer given that everyone in the town was in lockdown. Noone travelled out of their bubble and it was only by chance that a helicopter flew over and saw Tony’s message in a vacant plot. ‘HELP!’ The pilot landed on the plot and at a safe distance was able to sort Tony out and fly him back home to his relieved family and teammates.
Write your draft news report here:
One of the Astronaunts, Mark Watney has currently been announced dead. When Nasa was doing research on Mars an enormous storm hit. While they were trying to get out of there Mark Watney got trapped inside it, and the crew didn’t have time to get him. So the crew left Mars without Mark, when Nasa heard the heartbreaking news they just fell apart. But one of the Nasa people from mission control saw movement through the saterlitte. Therefore Nasa was trying to figure out what it was, was it an alien or was the astronaut that we thought was dead but actually alive. The astronaut himself told us that he survived by growing potatoes and eating it. But one day an enormous sandstorm hit and had a low oxygen warning, so then he had to get to base as soon as he could. When he got inside he saw that he was left with a huge wound and that he had to treat it soon. Now he has not many days to live because where the crops were destroyed. So now Nasa has figured for the crew to just turn around and get him, and bring him back to Earth. So with all effort and hope everyone has is to get all of them home. The crew made a successful journey and came home all safe and sound.
