Last week I had to do this activity of  tangata whenua and I forgot to blog it. Itś about voyagers finding a land to live, so my teacher had me do some questions here mine.

1. Where did the Māori people arrive from?

Samoa, Fiji, South Asia, Cook islands, Hawaii.

8. Write 3 sentences about the Moriori people

They have the same people as Maori’s.

They sailed from somewhere far.

If they give you a present you must give one in return.

9. How did they prove that Māori and Moriori descended from the same people?
10. They found bones and they checked the DNA.

11. Explain how the Moa came to be extinct

They became extinct because when they hunted the Moa they didn’t know that they only lay 1 or 2 eggs a year. Also when the eggs were laid rats and dogs at them. 

12. Why did Māori choose to settle in the places they did?
13. Because it was work there and they could grow crops, and they could fish there.

14. In your word bank, write the meaning of whānau, hapū and iwi
